Walking tour of the Kazan Kremlin (1,5 hours)

Kazan Kremlin Kazan Kremlin is a unique complex of various archaeological, historical and architectural monuments built during the past millennia and still functional to the present day. In 2000 the Kazan Kremlin was included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Complex objects are managed by the State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve «Kazan Kremlin». You will see the Spassky tower, leaning tower Syuyumbike, government buildings, visit the Kul-Sharif Mosque and the Cathedral of the Annunciation. This is a shortened version of the 3 hour-long tour.

Bus tour to Raif male Virgin Monastery (3 hours)

Kazan Raif male virgin monastery The Raif monastery was founded on a lake’s bank in the middle of a natural reserve 30 km away from Kazan. Its main shrine contains the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Georgia. The monastery complex consists of Cathedral built in honor of the Holy Trinity, Church in honor of the Holy Fathers of Sinai and Raifa Belfry, with the gates dedicated to the Archangel Michael. You will learn about the unique history of the monastery and take the healing water from its source.

Bus tour to the Sviyazhsk island (5 hours)

Kazan Sviyazhsk island Sviyazhsk island is located in the picturesque estuary of Sviyaga river on a hill named «High Mountain». Abundant nature surrounded by shallow waters of bays and islands attracted people since ancient times. The distance from Kazan is quite small just over 30 km up the Volga river. Sviyazhsk is a historical and cultural gem of the Republic of Tatarstan. There’s an ancient fortress built in Medieval times. During the reign of Ivan the Terrible it served as a military outpost in the Volga region and the place of rest and preparation of military units to march on the impregnable fortress of Kazan. After the capture of Kazan the island continued to prosper and retained its memories of the better and most glorious times. In this city, the spirit of the history and life is felt through every monument, street, back alley. The tour route includes a set of unique historical monuments: the Cathedral of Holy Virgin, one of the oldest wooden churches of Russia — the Church of the Holy Trinity, the current Assumption Monastery with its 17th century architectural monument, the Museum of Sviyazhsk, stables and workshops, a walk through the county Sviyazhsk.

Walking tour of the Bauman street (on request)

Kazan Bauman street To visit Kazan and not to walk around Bauman street — the oldest street of the city, the same age as the Kazan Kremlin – means not to see the most important thing. The Bauman Street is considered the main artery of the city, a beautiful place, the pride of Kazan, where you can fully experience the diversity of the city, admire the beauty of kazan girls, have a cup of coffee, as well as to update your wardrobe. Your attention can also be captured by numerous monuments and other surprising sights. The Bauman street has been recently nicknamed “the Kazan Arbat”, in view of the fact that since the 1990’s, it became a pedestrian street. Walking its pavement you will see the church and the bell tower of the Epiphany, Chaliapin monument, the building of the National Bank, the Drama Theatre, the royal carriage, a monument to a cat, charming fountains, 0 meridian, alley of national stars and more.

Excursion to Elabuga city (12 hours)

Elabuga Elabuga is a small old town, nestled in the woods on the right bank of the Kama River. Immersed in the green city with a panorama of churches with ancient stone mansions, it is a unique example of architecture of XIX century, that preserved to this day its unique appearance and landscape. History of Elabuga counts several centuries. A whole era in archeology gets its name from the opening of the Ananyinsky burial ground near Elabuga dating back to VIII-Vvv BC. Mysterious Tower of Elabuga’s «Devil» settlement is a witness to the tumultuous events of the Middle Ages. Legends, traditions and historical facts are associated with the great names of Elabuga from Temir-ak-Saka and Ivan the Terrible to Pugachev and the Empress Catherine II, by whose highest decree in 1780, the village Trekhsvyatskoye was transformed into the city Elabuga. The nature of the surrounding area was immortalized by the Russian landscape painter Ivan Shishkin, whose legacy is kept in his house, now a museum. The spirit of the past also soars above the museum N.A.Durovoy — the legendary «trooper-girl», the writer, who has lived in Elabuge for more than 30 years.Fate decreed that this land was the last refuge of the famous Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva. Every name, every place keeps a lot of well-known and still unread pages of history.

Excursion to the ancient city of Bulgar (9 hours)

Bulgar Settlement Bulgar settlement is a unique sight of Russia. This is all that remains of the Golden Horde, the once great and powerful country in Eastern Europe, (not counting the mosques and mausoleums Gasimov and Syuyumbeki tower in Kazan). The city has reached its greatest prosperity between XIII-XIV centuries. Most of preserved architectural monuments are correspond to that time. Nowadays a massive restoration project has been initiated. The cncient city of Bulgar state belongs to the historical and architectural museum-reserve. Here one can see the architectural monuments of XIII — XIV centuries, such as the Great Mosque, the mausoleums of the East («The Church of St. Nicholas») and the North («monastery cellar»), Khan’s Tomb, Small Minaret, the Black Chamber, the White chamber, the Red and the Hellenic Chamber, Khan’s room, and numerous archaeological sites.
